The Sanctification of The Saint
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever, Amen. Our position is in Christ, which makes us sanctified, but our condition has to be progressively brought up to our position. We maintain our position by keeping the object of our Faith in the Finished Work of Christ on a daily basis, therefore allowing the Sanctification process to continue.
When I speak of the Cross of Christ, I am not speaking of a wooden beam. If we mix our Faith with other things ( such as Purpose Driven Life), we frustrate the Grace of God, we make what Christ accomplished on the Cross for you and I in vain (Galatians 2:21).
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me ( the criteria for Discipleship), let him deny himself ( not asceticism as many think, but rather that one denies one's own willpower, self-will, strength, and ability, depending totally on Christ), and take up his Cross ( the important, benefits of the Cross, looking exclusively to what Jesus did there to meet our every need) daily ( this is so our looking to the Cross; that we must renew our Faith in what Christ has done for us, even on a daily basis, for Satan will try to move us away from the Cross as the object of our Faith, which always spells disaster) and follow me ( Christ can be followed only by the Believer looking to the Cross, understanding what it accomplished, and by that means alone ( Luke 9: 23).
It is the Law of the Spirit of God, if the object of our Faith is in any thing else except Jesus Christ, and what He did at Calvary, the Holy Sprit will not help us, allowing the Law of Sin and Death to control a Believers Life ( Romans 8:2).
